Join us for an exciting volunteer opportunity and help welcome thousands of runners as they prepare for the HumanKind Lynchburg Turkey Trot! This opportunity is great for individuals, families, community groups, businesses, and organizations looking to make a meaningful impact.
Packet Pick-Up is a drive-thru event held on HumanKind's campus, where participants receive their race materials before race day. Volunteers play a critical role in ensuring the experience is organized, efficient, and welcoming.
Volunteers will be assigned roles upon arrival. While we will do our best to honor role preferences submitted in advance, flexibility is appreciated as volunteer needs may change throughout the event.
Volunteer Roles May Include:
- Directing traffic and greeting participants
- Assisting at the Welcome Tent
- Retrieving race packets for participants
- Supporting the Customer Service/Troubleshooting Tent
- Assisting with Large Group Packet Distribution
- Assembling Race Bags as participants registerÂ
In addition to these duties:
- First Shift of Each Day: Volunteers will help set up Packet Pick-Up areas before participants arrive.
- Last Shift of Each Day: Volunteers will assist with cleaning up and resetting Packet Pick-Up areas after the event concludes for the day.
- Special Note for November 25: The final shift on November 25 will include packing up remaining supplies, race materials, and equipment to prepare for race day operations on Thanksgiving morning.
This opportunity involves standing, walking, working outdoors, and assisting participants throughout the shift.
